Hot Chocolate Latte

Hot Chocolate but elevate it with espresso to make a Hot Chocolate Latte! Chocolate and coffee are always so good together, don’t you think? It’s a perfect drink for this holiday season and even better to enjoy it with your favorite holiday cookies.

Made espresso using Mr. Coffee® OneTouch Coffeehouse+ Espresso Maker and let me tell you, adding espresso really amplifies the deep dark chocolate flavor! So many functionalities from this espresso maker and It’s so much fun being a barista at home.

Ingredients:

1  large scoops of ground coffee, using Mr Coffee’s measuring scoop

1/2 cup whole milk 

1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

25g dark chocolate

1 1/2 tbsp dutch processed cocoa powder

1 tsp granulated sugar


Steps:

  1. To make the hot chocolate, in a pot over medium heat add in ½ cup whole milk, ¼ cup heavy cream, 1 1/2 tbsp dutch processed cocoa powder and 1 tsp of sugar. Stir the mixture until it starts to simmer. 

  2. In a separate bowl, add 25g dark chocolate. Pour the hot milk mixture over and let it stand for 5 minutes and then stir until smooth. 

  3. To make the espresso, using a single shot porta-filter, fill it with ground espresso coffee. Tamp the coffee grounds down.

  4. Place the porta-filter underneath the brew head and lock it in place. Brew 1 shot of espresso. 

  5. In a glass mug, pour in the hot chocolate mixture, then espresso and mix well. Optional: top it with whipped cream and enjoy with some cookies!
